A youngster from the county has wowed the judging panel on a national singing competition for the second year in a row.

Ten-year-old Sasha France, from Ashington but now living in Jarrow, entered the TeenStar competition for a second time and has made it through to the regional finals.

Sasha, who attends the Pauline Quirke Academy in Newcastle, has been trained by a vocal coach for two years, and will now perform at a live regional final showcase of the competition, where she will sing One and Only By Adele.

She will be performing in front of an audience of hundreds and a professional judging panel for a place at the national final in London.

Chris Grayston, events coordinator for TeenStar, said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.”
