Youngsters at a Cramlington school have celebrated the end of the school year in style with a special carnival event.
As a reward for their good behaviour, the pupils at Eastlea Primary School took part in a Brazil carnival golden day, where they spent time designing and making their own carnival t-shirts, and took part in a range of workshops including samba drumming, South American dance and steel pans.
Following a picnic lunch on the school field, each class joined a carnival parade in the school grounds as a grand finale which also featured samba drumming and dance presentations.
Headteacher Emma Beeston said: “Everyone really entered into the spirit of the occasion and the carnival floats were fantastic.
“I was amazed at how creative the staff and children were to create a mermaid, a rainforest, a beach scene and a golden boot with a world cup trophy out of shopping trolleys.
“We always try to make our golden days special and this one will certainly be one to remember.”
