A YOUNGSTER from south east Northumberland has wowed the judging panel on a national singing competition to make it through to the regional finals.

Thirteen-year-old Josh Mowbray, from Bedlington Station, entered the TeenStar competition, and has been picked to go through to the next stage of the competition.

The Bedlington Station High School pupil was given the big thumbs up by judges at the TeenStar auditions, the brand new competition for teens and pre-teens.

Josh impressed the judges with his rendition of X Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan’s song Beer Fear, to win his spot in the regional final.

He is now in the running to compete for a place in the national final within The O2 in London.

Josh will now take part in a live head to head battle alongside the best talent in their area where he will perform in front of hundreds of audience members and a professional judging panel in a bid to win a place at the national grand final.

Chris Grayston, events co-ordinator for TeenStar, said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer, with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.

“There is so much talent out there I’m sure we can find a star.”
