A community radio station is preparing to return to the airwaves with more than 100 hours of programmes already scheduled.
Synergy Radio is preparing for a 28-day broadcast – starting on August 17 – which will include music, interviews, community information and outside broadcasts.
From its studio in Bedlington, live programmes will take place during the week from 7am to 9pm, with 15 hours of live features over weekends including summaries of football matches involving Blyth Spartans, Ashington AFC and Bedlington Terriers.
Among the guests ‘signed up’ to take part are author Barbara Henderson, Wansbeck MP Ian Lavery, Deborah Tate from the Woodhorn Museum, Bedlington mayor Coun Paul Hedley and Dr Alistair Blair, chief clinical officer with NHS Northumberland Clinical Commissioning Group.
Others include Bedlington Forum chairman Brian Oliver and Wansbeck CVS chief executive Anne Lyall.
Colin Heathcote, chairman of South Northumberland Radio Group, who are organising the broadcast, said: “Our team of volunteers are very excited about this second 28-day broadcast.
“We hope to build on the success of our venture in 2012 when more than 90 studio guests talked, sang or played instruments.
“Our aim continues to be to provide a voice for the community to promote services, facilities and activities for the benefit of people living in the area, within an interesting and entertaining format.”
