A charity based in south east Northumberland is celebrating after receiving a cash donation from a chocolate company.
Choysez in Bedlington has ben awarded £300 from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund to continue its work supporting young people across the county who are struggling in the education system.
The charity offers an alternative to mainstream education by providing a mix of indoor and outdoor activities leading to qualifications and accredited courses, and will use the money to build a bridge at its residential centre.
Charity worker Olivia Burton said: “This donation from the Galaxy Hot Chocolate Fund couldn’t have come at a better time.
“We have a cottage in Kielder which we use as a residential centre, but as a result of the extreme weather over the winter the cottage has suffered.
“We can now build a bridge across the stream so we can access the cottage this summer.”
