Teams to honour football volunteer

Two junior football teams are to play a charity match in honour of former volunteer Malcolm Johnston, who died in a freak accident in February.

Blyth Town and Bedlington Community Sporting Club are holding the football match in his memory, with the proceeds going to the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Nearly £1,400 has already been raised for the charity since Mr Johnston’s funeral.

The match will kick-off at 1pm on Easter Sunday, April 20, at Blyth Town’s Newsham pitch.

There will also be a bar, food, raffles and more.
