Teenager has ear bitten in alleyway assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a teenager had his ear bitten off in an alleyway in Ashington.

It happened about 11.30pm on Saturday, March 16, when a 19-year-old man was assaulted near to Poundland in the town centre.

The victim suffered a serious ear injury during the assault, with part of it bitten off.

The incident was reported to police on Monday, March 18.

Police are carrying out enquiries into the assault and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.

They are particularly keen to speak to a group of men in the area who police believe may have witnessed the assault.

It’s believed the people involved are known to each other, and an 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
