Teens injured in street assault

TWO teenagers received hospital treatment after they were assaulted by a gang of youths in Ashington.

The two 16-yuear-olds were approached by the group between 8pm and 8.30pm, on Friday, January 25, between Poplar Street and Myrtle Street in the town, who then assaulted them.

One suffered facial injuries and another a fractured wrist during the attack for which they received hospital treatment.

Enquiries are underway today to trace those responsible and the public are being asked for their help.
