Thieves target playground in broad daylight

THIEVES who stole toys from a children’s play area in broad daylight have been branded “low” by police.

The offenders climbed over the fence of Ashington Children’s Centre in Alexandra Road, between 3.30pm and 4.45pm on Friday, September 28.

They stole a number of toys, including nine soft play toys, a wooden double bike and a number of trikes.

Ashington Inspector Barrie Joisce said: “To steal from a children’s play centre is extremely low.

“The thieves have climbed over the railings and into the yard and they would have had to lift the items over the fence.

“It was daytime and I’m sure someone would have seen this happening and I’d urge them to contact us with any information.”

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101 ext 69191.
