Tools stolen as garages are targeted

WORK tools and a bike are amongst a number of things stolen from a spate of burglaries in the Cramlington area.

Overnight on Saturday, January 26, and into the morning of Sunday, January 27, burglaries took place at a number garages in the town.

One happened at Chesterhill when the garage door was forced and tools were stolen from inside, including a green Bosch drill, a Bosch drill bit, as well as a Flymo lawnmower.

There was also a burglary to a garage at a garage block in Crofthead Drive, where nothing was stolen but the rear tyres of a car parked in the garage were damaged.

And on the same night, at a Cranshaw Place garage block, a garage was broken into and a red and silver Apollo bike was stolen from inside.

In addition, a car parked at Crookham Way had three of its tyres slashed and windows smashed.

At this stage it’s believed the crimes are linked and police are carrying out enquiries into the incidents.

Neighbourhood Inspector Trevor Oakley said: “We’re carrying out enquiries to trace those responsible and I’d appeal for anyone who saw or heard suspicious activity overnight on Saturday into Sunday to get in touch with police.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191, or alternatively independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
