Town gets a new police inspector

A south east Northumberland town has a new police inspector.

Dave Simpson has taken over as Neighbourhood Inspector for Blyth having joined from the East Tynedale neighbourhood team.

In his 15-year career he has worked in a variety of roles including 24/7 response, CID and neighbourhood policing.

He was promoted to Neighbourhood Inspector in 2012 and his first position was at Morpeth before he moved to the west of the county.

Insp Simpson said: “I’m very happy to have been appointed the Neighbourhood Inspector for Blyth.

“I know the area well and I’m really looking forward to leading the team and helping making the area a safe place to be for everyone.

“The neighbourhood policing team works closely with local people to identify crime and disorder issues so they can be tackled effectively.”

“I’ll ensure that my officers are accessible and are highly visible in the area.

“I’m looking forward to building on the strong foundations already forged with the local residents, partners and businesses and continue the work with my team of officers to reduce crime and improve the area for local people.”
