Croft Park-Home of Blyth Spartans Football Club is burgled.

Vandals have caused damage to a county football pitch, digging up sections of the turf containing the centre spot and penalty spot.

The damage was caused to the Blyth Spartans’ pitch between 5.45pm on Saturday, February 22, and 10am on Monday, February 24.

Enquiries are ongoing into the damage and police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

Blyth Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Harris said: “We are checking CCTV from nearby properties and would appeal for anyone with any information about the offence to come forward and speak to us.

“We believe the vandals have got onto the roof to get inside the ground and they may have had ladders and shovels with them.

“If anyone saw anything suspicious over the weekend then I’d ask them to get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101 ext 69191 and quote reference 010531T/14.
