Vandals target parked vehicles

A NUMBER of cars parked in Ashington had their tyres punctured by vandals.

Between midday and 10pm on Tuesday, November 13, two vehicles parked in Canterbury Close were targeted.

Then on Wednesday November 14, police received three reports of tyres being damaged in Sweethope Avenue, Exeter Close and the Foxcover areas of the town and North Seaton.

Investigations into the damages are ongoing and police are appealing for anyone with any information to contact them.

Acting Inspector Donna Rose said: “Mindless damage like this causes lots of anguish and problems for the victims and also wider concerns in local communities.

“We are keeping an open mind as to whether the damages are linked and would appeal for anyone who sees anyone behaving suspiciously around parked cars in the Ashington and North Seaton areas to contact us.

“We need people to keep their eyes open and as soon as they see or hear anything report it to us so we can respond straight away.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
