Village life portrayed in new DVD

A new historical DVD looking back at the history of North Seaton has been produced.

The 50-minute long North Seaton – Those were The Days features rare archive footage and still photographs to look at the village’s unique heritage.

The DVD has been produced by local history group Sixtownships and is the latest in their films looking at the region’s past.

Among the features on the DVD are Wheatley’s Ferry that crossed from Cambois to North Seaton, plus North Seaton Colliery and its workers, and the Northumberland Miners’ Picnic.

John Dawson, of Sixtownships, said: “Step back in time and witness the people too.

“We have the regattas and galas that were held year after year.

“We have school days on view too, along with school sports and days away from the local community.

“There is so much more on this DVD to watch as we step back to a bygone era.

“You never know who you may recognise someone. It could be yourself, a family member or friend.”

The DVD, priced £5.49 but free for schools, is available from.sixtownships.org.uk or from Als Superstore in Ashington.
