Volunteers sought to help young homeless
Nightstop North East, which has won the prime minister's Big Society Award.
A CHARITY is looking for more volunteers in south east Northumberland to coincide with it being given an award by the prime minister.
Nightstop North East, based in Whitley Bay and run by youth homelessness charity Depaul UK, has provided around 70 nights of emergency accommodation for young people since expanding into Northumberland six months ago.
It is the latest organisation to win a ‘Big Society Award’ from prime minister David Cameron.
The project is hoping to recruit more volunteer drivers and hosts who are able to provide a safe place to sleep, washing facilities and breakfast for up to 14 nights.
