Young charity fundraiser is rewarded
A YOUNGSTER who spends his spare time raising money for a north east charity has been rewarded for his efforts.
Thirteen-year-old Jack Johnson was nominated in two categories of the Wansbeck District Council Young People's Award, which was held at
Newbiggin Sports and Community Centre last week.
Although he was pipped to the post for the Young Fundraiser of the Year award by sixth formers at Bedlington High School, he won the award for Young Person Making an Impact award.
Jack, who lives in Wansbeck, is the editor of the quarterly Sara's Hope Foundation newsletter and is a valued and respected member of the team.
Ged Hoburn, of Sara's Hope Foundation said: "Well done Jack, everyone in the team is so proud of you, you thoroughly deserve your award for
all your dedication and enthusiasm, you're a star."
Jack was one of the youngest to be nominated for an award in a ceremony that recognises achievements of young people between 13 and 19-years-old who live in Wansbeck.
Saras Hope Foundation was nearly a year and a half ago by the parents of Sara Hoburn, who died of cancer when she was just 16.
Their dream is to build a respite home in Crete for families with youngsters who have a terminal illness, using it as a place for them to travel too to spend precious time together and create special memories.
