Youngsters cheer to championship victory

A BLYTH-based dance school has hot-stepped its way to victory in the UK Cheerleading Association Winter Championships.
The Factory Dance Academy, which delivers urban dance sessions across the north east, travelled to Manchester’s Sport City last month to compete against other hopefuls from across the country.
Eighty-seven dancers, aged from five to 20, took part in the event, and won the academy 13 trophies and nine national first place titles.
The academy was also presented with the National Business Development award for their contribution to the community.
Dance director Anna Melling said: “We are absolutely delighted to represent the north east and bring home so many national titles.
“Our children and young people work so hard and have had the best day doing what they love.” For more information about the Factory Dance Academy call (01670) 363037.
