CHARITABLE students have handed over a cheque for £710 to help the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation in its fight against cancer.

The Blyth School Community College held a variety of fundraising events to raise the cash, presented to charity representative Pauline Buglass by Year 8 student Ryan Hunter.

The Chase Farm Drive school had organised a Hallowe’en competition, Christmas fair, and sold raffle tickets and home-made festive gifts to add to the £160 already handed to the charity before the end of year break.

Following their success during the festive season, the young entrepreneurs are planning themed gifts for Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter.

Pauline updated the young fundraisers on the pioneering equipment being used by the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, including the latest generation ‘cyber surgery’ tools, which will help improve the lives of cancer sufferers.

She thanked the youngsters for their hard work and congratulated them for the new ways in which they raise money for the charity, which the school has supported since its inception.
