Hundreds of youngsters have taken part in a special cancer run in memory of a former student.
Runners, walkers, three legged racers and those in fancy dress enjoyed a three mile route around Cramlington Learning Village raising valuable funds for both Cancer Research UK and Jessica’s Sarcoma Awareness Charity, which was set up recently after the death of former student Jessica Robson.
Jessica’s parents, Julie and Trevor Robson, were on hand to cheer the runners over the finish line and hand out medals to all those who completed the course.
And refreshments were made and provided by 6th form students in school to also boost the fundraising total.
Dave Paterson, PE teacher at the Learning Village, said: “It’s amazing to see all the staff and students come along today to support these two great causes.
“Jess was an amazing student and truly inspirational in her attitude and approach towards school.
“I’m delighted that Jess’s parents could come along and help us out and see the level of support they have from within school.
“The race was an overwhelming success and the date for next year’s event has already been set.”
