Youngsters march to beat bullying
The whole of Burnside Primary School in Cramlington marching around their school on an anti-bullying march with posters and placards they made themselves.
CHILDREN and teachers took their campaign against bullying out onto the streets of Cramlington last week by going on the march brandishing banners and placards.
Pupils and staff at the town’s Burnside Primary School staged the event to try to get across the message that bullying can ruin lives.
The youngsters designed and made their own placards.
The event was hailed a big success by deputy headteacher Chris Sowden.
He said: “It sent out a really strong message to the community and children that we are not prepared to tolerate bullying, and it showed how you can have a voice and take action.
“The children really got into it because it was something different and also because it was something that they were involved in, making their own banners and creating beat-bullying messages, and they were deeply immersed in it.
“It’s something that they will remember for a long time.”
The school colours are normally red, but for the march the colour blue was worn to match other anti-bullying initiatives.
