Young people from the 1st Step Project and their youth workers show off their certificates.

Youth organisations from Blyth stole the show at the Northumberland Clubs for Young People awards.

Newsham and New Delaval Youth Forum, Silx Teen Bar, Buffalo Community Centre, and Isabella Community Centre, picked up awards in four of the five categories including young volunteer of the year, volunteer of the year, small club project and large club project of the year.

Coun Robert Arckless, policy board member for children’s services at Northumberland County Council, said: “The awards are an example of Youth Work Northumberland’s model of voluntary and statutory sector organisations delivering quality youth work in partnership to the benefit of the young people and their community.”

The Projects with Pride awards were introduced by Northumberland Clubs for Young People in 2011 with the aim of recognising the achievements of its membership at every level. The event has run annually since and has proved a great success.

Next year Northumberland Clubs for Young People will celebrate its 80th anniversary and plans are already in place to make Projects with Pride bigger and better.
