A Northumberland shopping centre has chosen a north east hospice as the beneficiary of its community bursary.

Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure in Cramlington has awarded £5,000 to St Oswald’s Hospice, which provides specialist palliative care for people across the north east as part of its annual community bursary scheme.

The funding will be used to purchase equipment such as standing frames for children, pressure relieving chairs and mobile sensory devices.

Manor Walks’ general manager Bruno Coppola said: “Every year St Oswald’s supports hundreds of people across Northumberland with life-limiting conditions and their families.”

Kate Gilbertson from St Oswald’s, added: “We were delighted and proud to hear we have been chosen as Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure’s beneficiary of its 2014 community bursary.”
