Military charity is there to help

MANY people who have served in the Armed Forces are not aware that they are eligible for help from military charities.

Each year volunteers from SSAFA (Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association) Forces Help, the national charity that cares and supports our heroes and heroines and their families assist around 50,000 serving and ex-servicemen and women and their families nationally.

There are many people in the Northumberland area who are eligible for our help but who don’t realise that we can assist them or do not like the idea of accepting help.

Northumberland Branch of SSAFA has around 40 volunteer case workers who can offer support with a range of issues including mobility scooters, home adaptations, training and housing.

To find out more visit www.ssafa.org.uk or if you need assistance contact Captain Dougie Oliver, Castle Morpeth, (01670) 717881; Major K R Lord, Blyth and Seaton Valley, (01670) 541571; M J Buglass, Wansbeck, (01670) 860919.
