An artist has been drawing on her skills to impress a top London establishment.

Morpeth-based professional artist Karen Willis – who has private collections of her paintings around the world, including Canada, Japan, Germany, USA and South Africa – has received interest from Christies Auction House in London.

Karen was supported by Business Northumberland, the programme delivered by Arch and the European Regional Development Fund.

The programme supported her to utilise digital platforms, including Instagram, to display her products online, leading to Christies Auction House getting in touch.

Karen said: “Christies in London will be very selective with the artwork they choose.

“They like my work, which is hopeful, and this is thanks to Business Northumberland and their support.”

Jacqui Kell, chief executive at Arch, said: “Karen’s art business is an excellent example of how Business Northumberland can support businesses across Northumberland to grow.

“Whether a business is new, facing challenges, looking to grow or even looking to locate into Northumberland, the Business Northumberland programme can offer valuable advice and support.”
