AN off-road motorbike has been seized by police as part of a crackdown on disorder in Cramlington.
The seizure follows a spate of complaints to police about off-road bikers making nuisances of themselves on cycle paths and around estates.
The bike confiscated by police belongs to a 19-year-old man stopped after being caught riding illegally.
He will now have to pay £150 to claim it back or it will be destroyed.
Community support officer Jonathan Storey said: “Off-road motorbikes are a real nuisance in Cramlington.
“They cause a lot of noise, the ground where they are riding often gets torn up, and some of the riders are putting themselves and other road users at risk.
“I’d ask people to report any illegal off-road riding to us.”
