Hospital care standards for people with dementia should not be “a throw of the dice”, MP Ronnie Campbell has said.
The Blyth Valley member has given his backing to the Alzheimer’s Society’s Fix Dementia Care campaign.
The charity has found that nationally too many people with dementia are falling in hospital, being discharged at night, or facing long waits for discharge.
Mr Campbell said: “Good hospital care for people with dementia should never be a throw of the dice, yet in some hospitals people are routinely experiencing the consequences of poor care.”
The campaign calls on hospitals to publish an annual statement on dementia care and for it to be considered in regulator assessments.
