WANSBECK MP Ian Lavery is thinking pink to show his support for an annual charity fundraiser taking place next month.
Mr Lavery is giving his backing to Breast Cancer Campaign’s Wear it Pink event on Friday, October 28.
Schools, colleges and businesses throughout south east Northumberland, and the rest of the country are being encouraged to don at least one pink item of clothing in support of the campaign.
Each £2 donation to the charity will go towards funding research into understanding how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.
Mr Lavery MP said: “Every year in the UK, around 48,000 new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed in women.
“Although it is rare, men can also suffer from breast cancer, with around 340 men diagnosed each year.
“I know people who have lost friends and family members to the disease, and I would encourage everyone in my constituency and throughout the country to support Wear it Pink on October 28, to raise funds for breast cancer research.”
