A FAMILY in Blyth has taken decorating the outside of their home one step further this Christmas.

The Simms family home in Kingfisher Way has a festive array of lights around the house and garden, and all flash in sequence to the tune of the Nutcracker Suite from the famous Swan Lake ballet.

Daniel Simms is behind the design, which has attracted neighbours, as well as youngsters from the local nursery to the property to see the display.

He said: “My mam saw something on the TV and said she would like something similar for her house, so I started designing it.”

He used his skills from his role as a software developer at Select Information Systems in Newcastle to create the display.

The illuminations, which start off with gentle lights flashing on the outside trees progress to more garden lights before a Santa appears in the window and then the whole of the house is decorated in flashing lights.

Daniel said: “We have had very positive feedback, and we set it off to play every 30 minutes but people have said we should be playing every 15 minutes.”
