A soldier from Ashington has been deployed to Sierra Leone as part of a military operation to help combat the spread of Ebola.
Sergeant Neil Wold is helping to repair the electrics in the UK field hospital that has been set up as part of the UK project in Sierra Leone.
Former Hirst High School pupil Neil, 34, said: “This deployment is completely different to what I am used to, however, it is great to be out here and great to be getting stuck in.
“These people need our help and that is exactly what we intend to do.”
The deployment is part of a wider humanitarian aid program lead by DFID.
