There is good news for fans of Andersons Quality Bakers & Pork Shop in Newbiggin – an outlet will be opening in the town this Saturday.

It will be located in the former Spar premises on Front Street, next to the bandstand, which have been lying vacant since 2015.

The shop will sell the traditional Andersons product range including pies, pasties and cooked meats.

Hot food will be freshly baked throughout the day and there will be a small seating area so customers can eat in if they prefer.

The move comes as the shop with the same name on Woodhorn Road in Ashington, which relocated from North Seaton Road, celebrates a highly successful first year.

David Crook, managing director of Bakers Pantry Ltd that owns the Andersons outlets, said: “One year ago this month, we brought the well-loved Andersons brand back to the high street with an updated format when we opened the shop in Ashington.

“Andersons has an extremely loyal customer following and the shop has done very well.

“We had numerous requests from customers who live in Newbiggin to open up closer to them, so when the Front Street premises became available it seemed too good an opportunity to miss.

“It’s a great location and we want to help people shop locally and keep the town centre busy.”

The new shop will open at 8.30am and to celebrate, everything will be sold at half price on Saturday – with free tea and coffee.
