Cramlington’s new cinema is to get a taste of glamour when it officially opens today (Thursday).

Special guests, competition winners and local people nominated for their good work in the community will enjoy the Hollywood-style premiere when the new Vue complex opens at Manor Walks shopping centre.

They will enjoy a preview of the new Disney Pixar film Monsters University, where they will be joined by a few celebrity faces.

The nine-screen cinema opened to the public on Friday, boasting the VueXtreme super-sized screen – the largest screen in the north east at well over the size of four double decker buses – and is the first cinema outside of London’s Leicester Square to feature 3D sound.

Jayne Rooney, general manager of Vue Cramlington, said: “We are thrilled to be bringing some of the fun, glitz and glamour of Hollywood to Cramlington.

“So come down and make the most of the ultimate viewing experience from every seat.

“At this new cinema we hope you will feel every bit as valued as the celebrities in Hollywood.

“We will bring the people of Cramlington a greater choice of what they can watch, this will include not only the latest Blockbusters, but live 2D and 3D music concerts, sporting events, gaming, comedy, opera and ballet.”

Vue Cramlington – part of the extension to Manor Walks – features 1,300 seats, VIP and disabled seating.
