Work is progressing well on a new pub and restaurant in Ashington.

The Old Ash Dene, which is being built by Marston’s Inns and Taverns, will cater for up to 150 diners. It will create over 40 new jobs once completed.

It will be part of the company’s Generous George concept and will offer an extensive menu – including everything from George’s Chicken Shack to Pizza Paradise.

Mark Charlton, area operations manager for Marston’s, said: “We’re extremely excited about the Old Ash Dene and we hope it will build a great reputation locally when it opens in October this year.

“It will offer top quality, value for money pub food and an unrivalled selection of drinks, including hand crafted cask ales from across the country.”

The pub will be located at the entrance to Wansbeck Business Park and Arch was involved in helping it to secure the site as part of its efforts to increase the commercial activity in Ashington.

The business park is being expanded and Arch supported current tenants Contec Cleanroom (UK) Ltd, which needed to double its space requirements, by relocating it to a new 10,000 sq ft modern industrial unit.

Dave Ledger, Arch chairman and deputy leader of the county council, said: “We’re delighted to bring Marston’s to Ashington with a scheme that will add variety and amenity to Wansbeck Business Park.”

The next phase of recruitment for the Old Ash Dene gets under way this week. To find out more about the jobs available and apply, visit www.marstons.co.uk/careers
