Two entrepreneurs are raising a glass to their latest adventure which they hope will help community spirit.
The Royal Tavern in Blyth has now been refurbished and will reopen as The Tavern, with a special open evening for the public this Friday, December 5.
Mark Brett, from The Tavern, said: “This acquisition stems from a desire to revive the local community spirit for the local independently owned community pub.
“Aiden Campbell and I have already invested a significant amounts of capital and energy into the refurbishment of The Tavern, one of Blyth’s oldest pubs.
“We believe this will offer Blyth patrons something new and exciting compared with the current local offering.”
“As we are independent, our focus is to improve the quality of the overall experience and service.
“The Tavern has benefited from a full refurb, which has brought the pub back to life.
“Significant improvements have been made in all areas, our refurb includes a new bar, open plan games room, new facilities and a Grill restaurant.
“Our focus is to develop three service related areas – drinks, entertainment and food.
“We plan to bring culturally popular entertainment to the Tavern. Screens and TVs will be installed with the introduction of mainstream entertainment.
“The Tavern will also benefit from weekly musical entertainment, reinstating popular busker’s evenings, DJ’s and live music.”
In 2015, a kitchen and grill will be introduced to The Tavern offering a customised grill dinner menu as well as traditional brunch and lunch options.
