A BLYTH man was killed in a horror crash on a busy road last week.
Mark Kenneth Flynn, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash on the A1058 Coast Road near North Shields last Tuesday.
Emergency services were called just before 7.20pm after reports of a one vehicle crash involving a red VW Golf.
Mr Flynn’s Golf had been travelling eastbound when it left the road, collided with a crash barrier and rolled over.
Several passing motorists and members of the public stopped to try and help Mr Flynn, but paramedics were unable to save him.
Mr Flynn’s dog was also killed in the accident.
The road was closed for several hours while the slip re-opened the next day after repair work on the crash barriers.
However, a police investigation has led officers to believe another vehicle was involved but did not stop.
Police are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling south on the A189 Spine Road, the A19 or the Silverlink interchange between 7pm and 7.15pm on November 27 and who saw a red Volkswagen Golf with another vehicle.
A 30-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on police bail.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
