Profit and money rules

I refer to the letters from Mrs Barrell and Mr Brennan (News Post Leader, July 24) regarding the proposed housing development for New Hartley.

I first wrote about this subject on April 27 in response to Mr Ford’s original letter dated April 24.

I wrote then that my feeling was that planning permission for the development would be granted regardless, no matter what objections were raised by residents.

I now note that MP Ronnie Campbell and our three local councillors are against this development.

I await with interest what impact this will have on the application, and if their involvement will stop it in its tracks.

Past experience tells me that, if Barratts fail with their first applications, they will appeal until they eventually win.

I hope I am wrong, but as I said in my original letter: profit / money rules.
