SOME of the greatest literary works will be brought up to date this week as ambitious students take on a classic play with a modern twist.
Romeo and Juliet find themselves thrust into the cut throat world of business in the contemporary version of the play being performed by students at Bede Academy in Blyth.
The young lovers are caught amid the ancient grudge between their families’ businesses, Capulet Estates and Montague Media.
Director Patrick Turnham, said: “This is the first Shakespeare play we’ve performed at Bede.
“It’s an emotionally challenging play and the Shakespearean language is not easy, but everyone has risen to the challenge.”
