Pupils at a south east Northumberland school have held their first science club.

Bedlingtonshire High School key stage 3 students are taking part in the science club, which is being run in conjunction with Cramlington firm Merck Sharp and Dohme.

In the first session, 35 students were challenged to make a jelly baby spaghetti tower which had the ability to support an egg, with prizes being won for the highest tower and the best design.

Raising achievement leader for science, Gavin Savage, said: “This is one of many activities run by the department to engage and enthuse students’ love of learning in science, we are glad so many students attended and would encourage anybody else to come and join us.”
