Pupils get to try out clog dancing

PUPILS at a south east Northumberland school swapped books for clogs before breaking up for the summer as they spent the morning dancing.

Students at Seaton Sluice Middle School arrived at morning assembly to find Jean Smith, a former member of ‘Newcastle Cloggies’ and local dance group ‘In-step’, waiting to give them a taster session for a clog dancing workshop.

The children watched as Jean danced her way through some traditional clog dancing steps followed by more contemporary pieces.

They were then given the opportunity to join a beginners’ workshop where they will be able to experience the exhilaration and fun of clog dancing whilst learning authentic steps and traditional routines.
