PUPILS have turned their hands to the music business to raise cash for their school.

The youngsters at Newsham Primary School in Blyth have produced a CD featuring their school song and songs with a nautical theme, which they have now put up for sale.

They recorded the songs in a portable studio with the help of a professional recording engineer.

Eight-year-old pupil Rosie Legender won the competition for designing the best CD cover.

Carl Sutherland, deputy headteacher, said: “The children had a fantastic experience making their own CD and are really proud of the results.

“Their singing was wonderful and everyone who has heard the CD has commented on how professional it sounds.

“We will never forget the wonderful day.”

The CD, containing nine songs, is available from the school office for £3.99.

All profits will go to the school funds via the Friends of Newsham.
