A new food and walking guide is set to put a spring in the step and a rumble in the stomach of anyone who fancies enjoying a scenic walk and some great Northumberland food.

The Taste of South East and Mid Northumberland Leaflet includes a handy map of popular walking routes, attractions and the locations of nearby shops, cafés and restaurants selling locally-produced food and drink.

Coun Val Tyler, cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture at Northumberland County Council, said: “This is a pocket-sized guide for lovers of fine local food and for people who fancy getting out and about to enjoy our parks and trails.

“It highlights some of the great walks in the area and some of the excellent places in the county for delicious Northumbrian produce.”

Residents and visitors can pick up the guide from tourist information centres, leisure centres, libraries and businesses around the region.
