An inspirational youngster from Northumberland is to be rewarded for her bravery with a national award.
Ten-year-old Rachel Hooley, from Cramlington, has been named as a child of inspiration winner in the WellChild Awards.
Nominated by her mum Eve and sister Kate, Rachel will be off to London next week to collect her prize.
Rachel, who underwent a heart transplant at the age of seven, was picked from hundreds of nominations from across the UK to win the category of Inspirational Child in the awards which celebrate the courage of children coping with serious illnesses or complex conditions and honour the dedication of professionals who go the extra mile to help sick children and their families.
Rachel’s mum Eve said: “I hope Rachel will go from strength, we are so proud of her.”
