A radio station is taking an Ashington school to heart.
Justin Lockwood and Kelly Scott, presenters of Heart North East’s breakfast show, called in at St Benedict’s RC Middle School last Thursday to chat to pupils and take videos of them.
Because Mothering Sunday was imminent at the time, the youngsters were asked a variety of questions about their mums, as well as having autographs signed and their pictures taken with the Newcastle-based station’s presenters.
Teaching assistant Margaret Ayre said: “The recording session was done over a lunchtime, so the children did not lose any learning time, but they certainly gained some experience of recording and editing with the Heart production team. They all had a great time.
“Some of the children felt very nervous about going into the recording area, but they all came out smiling after they had their turn.
“It was a great privilege to have the Heart team here again. They were fabulous to be around and commented that the children were well behaved and very polite.”
The Moorhouse Lane school pupils’ recordings were broadcast on Monday morning, and their videos have been put up on Heart’s Facebook page.
