Register site moves into town library

THE register office in Ashington has been relocated.

It has moved to the town’s library in Kenilworth Road after the lease expired at its previous location.

The office was based in the Post Office Chambers in nearby Station Road.

It will continue to operate by appointment only on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 9am and 4pm.

Coun Neil Bradbury, Northumberland County Council’s executive member for customer relations and culture, said: “We are pleased to be incorporating the register office into our existing library building in Ashington, following the ending of the lease on the previous location.

“This will make good use of the space we have available in the library and will be an improved and more attractive environment for our customers and our staff.

“By bringing together our services in this way our teams will be able to work together, providing a better, more accessible service for our customers.”

The office will be accessible through the ground floor entrance to the library, behind the Post Office Chambers.
