I am researching my grandfather’s First World War history.
Thomas Arnott lived in Bedlington and joined the Northumberland Fusiliers in 1915.
He was seriously wounded twice in the trenches at the Somme in France.
He also served in the Royal Engineers, undermining enemy positions, and later the Royal Flying Corps and RAF until 1918.
Medals inscribed with his name on the edge marking his bravery where lost in the Bedlington area sometime in the late 1960s early 1970s.
Monetarily they are only worth £70, sentiment being their true value.
The family will donate £100 to Help For Heroes or a similar cause or as a reward if anyone can help us complete our grandfather’s past, especially in this centenary year, please e-mail the newspaper – email@example.com – and this will be passed on to us.
