A total of 50 new jobs are being brought to Cramlington with the opening of two new establishments.
Pub chain JD Wetherspoon is opening a new pub on Tuesday, July 9, creating 30 jobs in the process.
The company has spent £1.47m redeveloping the outlet on the site of the former pub The Travellers, in Church Street, with paralympian athlete Stephen Miller officially opening the establishment – called John the Clerk of Cramlington – at 7pm.
Manager Mark Streener said: “Myself and my team are looking forward to welcoming customers into the pub and we are confident that it will be a great addition to Cramlington’s community.”
The new pub will be open from 8am to 11pm Monday to Wednesday, 8am to midnight on Thursday, and 8am to 12.30am on Friday and Saturday, with food served until 10pm every day.
Meanwhile a total of 20 new jobs will be created when Italian restaurant Prezzo opens at Manor Walks shopping centre on Thursday, July 11.
Prezzo chief executive Jonathan Kaye said: “We are delighted to be part of the superb Manor Walks shopping centre.”
The £500,000 restaurant will serve Italian food, a range of tapas style small dishes, a selection of wines and a children’s menu.
Prezzo will be open from noon to 11pm.
Manor Walks Shopping and Leisure’s general manager Bruno Coppola said: “To be able to welcome the region’s only Prezzo restaurant to Manor Walks is fantastic news for Cramlington and we are delighted to have such a superb brand joining our leisure offering.
“Prezzo is launching at Manor Walks at such an exciting time and as we prepare for its official opening I am confident we have created a truly exciting customer experience that will place Cramlington firmly on the map as a major retail and leisure destination.”
