Amble RNLI went to the rescue of yacht taking part in a round-Britain sailing event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research.

The all-weather lifeboat was launched on Tuesday after a report that the 44ft yacht Nightsong with four people on board was having engine difficulties and taking on a small amount of water, two-and-a-half miles east of Beacon Point, Cambois Bay.

The crew stopped the water ingress and the boat was towed into Blyth, and into the hands of Blyth and Newbiggin Coastguard teams.
