Shoppers have shown their support for the lifeboat service to earn crews a cash boost.

ASDA Blyth has donated £500 from its Green Token scheme to the town’s RNLI Lifeboat Station.

Customers were given green tokens at the checkout to place in a collecting box for one of three charities, with the cause receiving the most benefiting from the donation.

The store’s community champion Diane Dinning handed over the cheque after meeting the RNLI crew, fundraising committee and Ladies’ Guild.

Volunteer helmsman Scott Delf said: “It’s fantastic that the people of Blyth have supported the work that we do.”
