A south east Northumberland sports club is celebrating after it was awarded a £12,360 funding boost from SITA Trust for a special project.
Cambois Rowing Club plan to purchase a quad suitable for competition rowing in the region and at national level.
The boat will be used by different crews in the club, including all age groups (13 to 80-years-old), men and women.
The boat will allow the club to compete in more events and encourage members to participate in competition.
Head coach Barrie Hanley said: “Our boats date back to the fire in 1992 where we lost all our boats.
“This new boat will make a tremendous difference to our young crews’ ability to compete regionally and in national competitions.”
Marek Gordon, CEO and chairman of SITA Trust, added: “We are delighted to have been able to support this project through the Landfill Communities Fund.
“This important source of funding has been available since 1997 and has provided such worthy projects with more than £1.2bn.”
