A BLYTH-based safety specialist has teamed up with the fire service to support a number of community initiatives taking place across Northumberland.

Draeger Safety UK, based on the Blyth Riverside Business Park, has formed a partnership with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) to support upcoming community initiatives.

The company will help with funding, as well as the provision of smoke alarms for members of the community who are deaf or hard of hearing, school and Sure Start educational campaigns, as well as a boxing club for young people at the fire service’s Cramlington headquarters.

Chief fire officer at Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service, Alex Bennett, said: “Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service is pleased to announce our new partnership with Draeger Safety UK.

“Draeger’s commitment to the safety of all fire service professionals goes hand-in-hand with our ethos to make the community a safer place and it’s great to have their support and backing.

“In addition to the essential emergency role we provide, Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service hopes to continue to have the opportunity to offer a wide range of community support activities and our partnership with Draeger will help to ensure this continues in the future.”

Draeger sales and marketing director Phil Saxton added: “Draeger Safety UK is proud to announce a new partnership with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and we are looking forward to supporting many projects within the Northumberland community.

“As manufacturers of safety equipment for the fire service, we know the importance of keeping people safe and we have absolute respect for the fire fighters that put their lives on the line to make their communities safer places.

“We feel it is crucial to continually strive to improve safety services and in backing our local fire brigade, we are helping to put something back into the community. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service.”
