Celebrations have been taking place at the double at Blyth’s Pembroke Court sheltered housing scheme.

The Anchor Trust site, off Plessey Road, has not only raised £240 by holding a summer fair but has also congratulated its longest-serving tenant, Sylvia Allen, on having passed the 18-year mark.

Blyth mayor Margaret Parker presented Mrs Allen with a certificate in recognition of her lengthy residence at Pemroke Court and also declared the fair open.

Scheme spokeswoman Lindsey Tate said: “Sylvia has lived in Pembroke Court for 18 years and is at the very centre of our social scene.

“The mayor also officially opened the fayre, and I’d like to thank everybody who came along and supported us or made donations to our raffles.”
